Apparently 8 gabillion people were laid off today and a quadrillion turkeys were murdered. Methinks we're in the End Times fo sho.

three little words

another black and white photo posted to a cubicle wall
three words worm their way through,
"we'll make another."
and now i have to dig the trenches all over again.

commute

on the train on the way to work today,
i saw, far out near the base of the mountains
a sunny patch.
the train, the depressing big box stores and industrial parks
around me remained lousy with grey.
i really wanted to be standing in that sun.
i thought about getting off the train and heading for the hills.
instead i ran my tongue over the sharp edges of my eye teeth
and decided i'd never make it on time.
my transfer runs out in 12 minutes...
...11...

Jenny, so shy.

I'm sorry... ...and I miss you

Slint's "Good Morning Captain" always kind of freaked me out a little... in a good-to-feel-your-stomach-lurch-a-bit-to-prove-you're-still-alive kind of way. But did you know the haunting little ditty was made into a children's book?

Oh, you did? Stupid small world I live in.

7-year Itch

Um, I've been writing this blog for 7 years. Isn't that crazy? To think of all the things I could have potentially accomplished in 7 years... I could have earned a degree in something or other. I could have walked across Canada or built my own home out of clay and grass and stuff. I could have birthed and raised a 7-year-old! Shoulda, coulda, woulda.

So, what's up for 2009? That is a very good question. I do hope I get to do something creative again. I would like some breathing room. A little passion would be nice. Peace, happiness & and one of these doodads would be even better.

I will go to bed now. Tomorrow I return to work after 10 days off. I should say more, but I'm tired.

Thanks for hanging out with me over the last 7 years.

Kisses on your lipses
